The tractors are ready for the Kaw Valley Farm Tour, and so are we. We’ve mucked out barns, moved chickens, mowed fields and picked tomatoes, lined up volunteers and just about anything else we can think of to prepare for the tour, which is this weekend, Oct. 5 and 6, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
There are now photos hanging in the (now clean) shop building that show changes at the farm from the 1950s to the present. You can walk through the old dairy barn, which still has the names of cows milked by Jess’ grandfather written on the wall. Check out the high tunnel, see the garden, and say hello to the goats and the chickens.
We also hope you’re hungry. Blissful Bite will be here Saturday from 2-6 (but possibly earlier) and Sunday from 11-3. We will have lots of food available at our farmstand in the shop building: goat meat, tomatoes, peppers, pear butter, squash, pumpkins and sweet potatoes.
We also have new Red Tractor shirts with Lawrence, Kansas on the front.
We look forward to showing you around today and tomorrow. -Jen
